Canada opened its medal count at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with a bronze from swimmer Mary Jibb in the women’s 200m individual medley SM10. The result came during the opening day of swimming and para swimming finals at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, where Canadian athletes were also active in several other events. Oliver Dawson advanced to the men’s 100m breaststroke final after placing second in his semifinal with a nationalrecord time of 59.87. Elsewhere, Canadian gymnasts stayed in contention in the men’s team final, with Jordan Carroll, Felix Dolci and William Emard helping Canada remain in the goldmedal hunt heading into the last rotation. In the pool, Canadian swimmers also posted strong efforts, including lifetime bests and final appearances across multiple races.
