L’Oreal, Mondelez, and Nestle use AI to speed product development
AI product development helps brands test ideas faster and cut lab work See how L'Oreal, Mondelez, and Nestle are using it to innovate smarter
L’Oreal, Mondelez, and Nestle are using AI to accelerate product development and reduce the time needed to test new ideas, ingredients, and recipes.
L’Oreal said it has used AI in its laboratories for four years to predict how molecules may perform in skin and hair products before physical testing. The company said the approach helps narrow formulation options and has made some product development work faster.
In food, Mondelez is using AI to generate and evaluate recipe ideas for brands such as Oreo, Cadbury, Toblerone, and Chips Ahoy. The company said the tools can reduce the number of physical samples needed and help teams explore alternatives when ingredient supply or cost changes.
Nestle is also applying AI as it reformulates products, including plans to remove artificial food colourings worldwide by the end of 2026. The article says the company is using AI and other digital tools to screen natural alternatives, test stability, and support packaging and ingredient discovery.
