Microsoft unveils new AI models and agent tools at Build

Microsoft used its Build 2026 event to show a broader AI strategy centered on its own models, agents, and hardware. The company announced seven inhouse AI models, an alwayson agent for Teams, a quantum chip, and early work on agentfocused devices.
The new Microsoft AI models cover areas such as reasoning, coding, image generation, voice, and transcription, and are available through Microsoft Foundry. Microsoft also introduced Scout, an agent designed to take proactive actions like scheduling meetings and preparing materials.
The company said its Majorana 2 quantum chip was helped by AI agents during design work, and it previewed Project Solara, a platform for future agentic devices. Microsoft also showed a new miniPC built for AI workloads, signaling that Windows and Microsoft 365 are being positioned as the main layer for agentbased computing.
