Amelia Boultbee will not seek re-election in B.C.

Amelia Boultbee exits race after switching to BC NDP, citing campaign limits Her departure opens Penticton-Summerland for a stronger contender

Amelia Boultbee, a British Columbia legislator who switched from the BC Conservatives to the NDP earlier this year, says she will not run in the Oct. 24 provincial election. In a statement, Boultbee said she could not secure the resources needed to give the NDP a fair chance in PentictonSummerland and is stepping aside to allow a more competitive candidate to run. Boultbee was elected in 2024 as a Conservative, later left the party over ideological differences, sat as an Independent, and joined the NDP in July. She said the move came with significant personal and political fallout, but she believes it was the right decision. Her departure makes her the sixth NDP MLA to announce they will not seek reelection.
