Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte has dismissed dozens of intelligence officials, according to a report from MS Now published Friday.
The report says the termination notices were sent on Thursday and that the Trump administration is targeting officials it believes are part of the “deep state” or have not provided complete intelligence assessments. The White House and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence did not immediately comment.
Pulte was appointed acting spy chief in June after Tulsi Gabbard stepped down, and his temporary role has drawn bipartisan criticism in Congress. The office of the DNI oversees 18 U.S. intelligence agencies, including the CIA and the National Security Agency.
