Niagara Region thanks Buffalo and invites fans to Bills-coloured display
Niagara Falls tourism celebrates Buffalo ties with fireworks, open letter and goodwill See how cross-border friendship shines despite trade tension and political friction
Niagara Region and Buffalo are highlighting their crossborder ties again as trade tensions continue between Canada and the U.S.
Niagara Falls Tourism published an open letter in the Buffalo News inviting Americans to visit on Saturday, when fireworks over Niagara Falls will be lit in red, white and blue to match the Buffalo Bills.
The letter thanked Buffalo for being a good neighbour and pointed to recent moments of goodwill, including Bills fans singing O Canada during a home game and Canadians singing along from across the country. It also referenced Buffalo billboards in southern Ontario that echoed the anthem.
The piece said the display is meant as a gesture of appreciation, with local leaders describing the relationship between the two regions as longstanding and friendly despite political and trade friction.
