Four people died when a helicopter crashed into a field in Montérégie, Que., in the SainteBrigided’Iberville area southeast of Montreal on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, the incident happened just after 2:30 p.m. The helicopter caught fire after the crash, though police said it was not yet clear whether the flames started in the air or after impact.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control within about an hour. The four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, and the Quebec major crime unit is investigating alongside the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
