Anthropic and SpaceX strike an unusual compute deal
Anthropic SpaceX lease boosts Claude capacity with more Nvidia GPUs and higher limits See how the Colossus 1 deal and Google talks signal a bigger compute race
Anthropic has signed a new agreement with SpaceX to lease the Colossus 1 compute cluster, a major supercomputing facility in Memphis. The deal will give Anthropic access to more Nvidia GPUs and expand the company’s capacity for running Claude.
According to the report, Anthropic said usage limits for Claude Code are being raised across paid plans, with more increases available through the API and fewer peakhour limits. The arrangement also marks a notable shift in tone between Elon Musk and Anthropic, given his past criticism of the company.
The partnership comes as Anthropic is also reported to be pursuing a large cloud computing commitment with Google. Together, the deals highlight how major AI companies are competing for access to scarce compute resources as model demand continues to grow.
