Three men in Brazil have been charged after a 21yearold woman died during a ropejumping excursion near São Paulo, according to local authorities.
Police said Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas was launched from an abandoned bridge without being properly attached to safety ropes. Investigators said the instructors involved admitted that the equipment was not connected before the jump.
The incident happened on Saturday at the Ponte do Esqueleto, or Skeleton Bridge, about 90 miles northwest of São Paulo. Officials said Rodrigues de Freitas fell about 130 feet and was later buried on Sunday.
Brazilian police are investigating the case as homicide with eventual intent, while city officials in Limeira said they are cooperating with the inquiry and expressed condolences to the family.
