Four people were rescued after a charter boat sank near Sea Island in British Columbia, triggering a large search and rescue operation on Sunday.
According to the B.C. RCMP, authorities believe 10 people were aboard the vessel when it began taking on water near Roberts Bank around 11:45 a.m. The incident happened about 10 nautical miles southwest of Vancouver International Airport.
The Canadian Armed Forces, Canadian Coast Guard, RCMP, and marine search and rescue teams responded with aircraft, boats, hovercraft, and diverted ferries. By Sunday night, four people had been taken to hospital, while six others were still missing and the cause of the sinking remained under investigation.
