Ottawa outlines 167 investment projects ahead of Carney summit

Canada investment summit projects target investors with 167 major national proposals See the biggest energy, transport and tech deals as Ottawa courts global capital

Ottawa has prepared a prospectus listing 167 projects it hopes to present to investors at next week’s Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, according to a CBC News report based on the document. The projects span eight sectors, including conventional and clean energy, mining, marine infrastructure, power, digital technology, manufacturing and transportation. Among the largest proposals are a $57 billion expansion of the Port of Churchill, a $44 billion offshore wind project in Nova Scotia, a $35 billion pipeline from Alberta to B.C.’s coast and the $28.5 billion Ksi Lisims LNG terminal. The summit, hosted by Prime Minister Mark Carney with pension fund partners, is meant to attract major international capital as Canada faces trade tensions and seeks to diversify its economic ties beyond the United States. The prospectus also highlights plans in artificial intelligence, including data centres and quantum technology, while some projects remain at early planning stages.
