An Ontario man is facing firstdegree murder charges after being arrested in Winnipeg in connection with a separate investigation into threats made against a local business.
Police say Graham Mlodozenec, 52, was arrested on May 12 in Winnipeg after officers found him and his vehicle on Portage Avenue. Authorities say a shotgun, ammunition, other weapons and three jerrycans of gasoline were seized during the arrest.
Ontario Provincial Police said they responded to a call on May 6 in Greater Madawaska, Ont., where a 61yearold woman was found dead. Her death was later ruled a homicide. Investigators also linked the suspect to a downtown Winnipeg business, where he is accused of making threats and saying he was prepared for a violent confrontation with police.
Winnipeg police first charged Mlodozenec with several weapons and threatsrelated offences. He was later transferred to Ontario custody, where he now faces firstdegree murder and attempted murder charges. He is scheduled to appear in court in Pembroke on June 22.
