An Ontario Provincial Police constable in Renfrew County has been demoted for three years after an incident at a charity golf event in which he slapped a female officer’s buttock while she was on duty.
The officer, Const. Mark Condron, was found guilty of misconduct under Ontario’s Community Safety and Policing Act in November. A separate count related to undermining public trust was later dropped.
In April, the adjudicator ordered Condron to move down in rank for 18 months, then spend another 18 months at a higher rank before returning to firstclass constable. The ruling said past discipline, performance history and efforts at rehabilitation were considered, while the OPP had asked for dismissal.
