Brown faces scrutiny over Google-linked donations in Ohio Senate race
Ohio Senate race heats up as Brown attacks data centers and faces Google donation scrutiny See how the clash over energy costs, politics and campaign cash could shape the vote
Former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown is drawing criticism in Ohio’s Senate race after attacking Republican Sen. Jon Husted over the state’s data center growth while past campaign records show Brown received donations connected to Google.
A recent Brown campaign ad focused on an Ohio data center owned by Google and argued that expanding the industry can raise electric bills. Federal records reviewed by Fox News Digital show Google’s corporate PAC gave Brown $20,000 over his career, along with additional donations from Google lobbyists and people who work on issues tied to permitting, grid reliability and energy costs.
Brown’s campaign said he opposes the expansion of data centers in Ohio and argued that Husted has supported the industry. Husted’s campaign responded that Brown is attacking the issue for political gain while ignoring his own record, as the two candidates compete in a closely watched Senate race.
