OpenAI has published the system card for GPT5.5 Instant, its latest instant model, on May 5, 2026.
The company says the model uses safety mitigations similar to earlier versions, but it is the first Instant model treated as high capability in its cybersecurity and biological and chemical preparedness categories.
OpenAI also notes that GPT5.5 Instant is distinct from GPT5.5 Thinking, which refers to the separate GPT5.5 model used for comparison in the card.
