Optimism Releases op-reth v2.5.0 With Security Fixes and Legacy Command Removal
op-reth v2.5.0 upgrade fixes security issues and removes legacy import commands Update now to keep operators current and switch OVM history workflows safely
Optimism has released opreth v2.5.0 and says all operators should upgrade. The update focuses on maintenance rather than protocol changes, with two main updates: removal of outdated import commands and fixes for dependency security issues.
The release removes the legacy importop and importreceiptsop commands, which were used for importing preBedrock OVM history. Operators still using that workflow must switch to the Bedrock statebootstrap process and rely on l2geth for older history before upgrading.
The new version also patches vulnerabilities in the rustls and imbl dependencies. Optimism says the issues were security fixes for client software, not signs that an OP Stack chain was actively exploited.
