Quebec cardiologist live-streams rare heart procedure to train doctors nationwide See how Montreal experts shared chronic total occlusion angioplasty with 150 peers

A Quebec cardiologist and colleagues livestreamed a rare heart procedure from Montreal’s SacréCœur Hospital to help train other doctors across Canada. The procedure, called chronic total occlusion angioplasty, is used to open severely blocked arteries without openheart surgery. Dr. Raja Hatem is among the few cardiologists in the country qualified to perform it. About 150 cardiologists watched the broadcast as part of an effort to share expertise on this highly specialized technique.
