Meta launches Muse Image, its new in-house AI image model

Meta has released Muse Image, a new image generation model developed by its Superintelligence Labs team under Alexandr Wang. The model is now available in Meta AI and is being rolled out across Instagram and WhatsApp, with additional Meta products expected to get access later. According to the report, Muse Image reached the No. 2 position on Arena’s texttoimage and editing leaderboards, behind only OpenAI’s GPT Image 2. Meta says the model includes customization features, editing tools, and agentic capabilities through integration with Muse Spark, which can use web search and other tools. Meta also previewed a Muse Video model, which is expected to launch soon and has already placed near the top of Arena’s video leaderboard. The release suggests Meta is moving more of its creative AI work inhouse after previously relying on partners such as Midjourney and Black Forest Labs.
