Nine Hamilton businesses to receive $12.5 million in federal tariff support

Hamilton businesses get $12.5M in tariff relief to protect jobs and growth Support local manufacturers as federal aid helps them adapt and expand

The federal government says nine Hamiltonarea businesses will receive more than $12.5 million in support after being affected by new U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods. The funding was announced Monday by Evan Solomon, the minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, in Hamilton. One of the recipients, Canadian Metal Buildings, said the tariffs sharply reduced its U.S. business and pushed the company to focus more on the Canadian market. Other companies receiving support include Niko Apparel Systems, Automation Design and Installation, Biederman Enterprises, FELLFAB, Hooper Welding Enterprises, Max Aicher North America, Whitebird/Moyy, and Superior Radiant Products. Officials said the repayable investments are intended to help businesses adapt to tariffrelated pressures, strengthen domestic manufacturing and supply chains, and support growth. The federal government also said it is increasing support under the Regional Tariff Response Initiative as part of a broader package for workers and businesses affected by the trade dispute.
