Police release new leads in 2022 Scarborough homicide

Toronto police seek suspect in Ding Ping Wang killing with new witness details See the artist sketch and footage, and share tips to help solve the case

Toronto police have released new information in the 2022 killing of Ding Ping Wang in hopes of identifying the person responsible. Wang was shot inside a car in a parking lot near Midland Avenue and Passmore Avenue in Scarborough on Nov. 12, 2022, and died at the scene. Investigators say a new witness account helped produce an artist's rendering of a suspect. Police also released security footage they believe shows the suspect walking the route later used on the day of the shooting. Det. Sgt. Sajeev Nair said the shooter used his left hand to fire the gun. Police said the attack was not random, but the motive remains unclear. Nair described Wang as a husband, father, and business owner who was not involved in gang activity or other criminal behaviour, and appealed to the public for tips that could help close the case.
