Federal party leaders have paid tribute to a 45yearold Canada Revenue Agency employee who was killed in Montreal this week.
The Union of Taxation Employees identified the woman as Leila Ben Salem. Montreal police said they found her during a welfare check on Tuesday in an apartment in the VilleMarie borough. Investigators have spoken with a person of interest, but no arrests had been made by Thursday afternoon.
Prime Minister Mark Carney offered condolences to Ben Salem's family, colleagues and loved ones, and said the federal government would support police efforts to bring the person responsible to justice. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre also described her as a valued member of the public service.
