BC nurses plan picket at Vancouver General Hospital next week

The British Columbia Nurses' Union says it will begin picketing Vancouver General Hospital, the province's largest hospital, on Tuesday as it escalates job action.
The union said members voted overwhelmingly in favor of strike action after rejecting a tentative agreement. It also said nurses will continue to provide essential services while refusing nonessential overtime and nonnursing duties.
Union leaders say the province needs to address working conditions and staffing pressures to help ease the nursing shortage. The announcement comes as talks with the provincial government remain unresolved.
