Ford says he will continue supporting Olivia Chow
Doug Ford backs Olivia Chow as Toronto mayor, signaling a strong working relationship See why Ford’s shift matters ahead of the municipal election and what’s next
Ontario Premier Doug Ford signaled support for Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow during a news conference on Wednesday, saying the two have a strong working relationship and that people should “read between the lines.”
Ford made the remarks while appearing with Chow and provincial ministers for an announcement about Ontario and Canada’s investment in Sanofi’s vaccine manufacturing expansion.
The comment stood in contrast to Ford’s stance during the 2023 mayoral race, when he said electing Chow would be an “unmitigated disaster.” Chow is facing Brad Bradford, Chris Alexander, and a large field of other candidates in the upcoming municipal election.
