Trump administration outlines proposed Iran agreement
Iran nuclear deal framework outlines oil waivers and a 60-day talks window See what the proposal means for sanctions, trade, and the next round of negotiations
The Trump administration has disclosed key terms of a proposed memorandum of understanding with Iran, including immediate waivers for Iranian oil exports and a 60day period for talks on a final nuclear deal.
According to U.S. officials, the framework would also allow for a potential reconstruction and economic development plan worth at least $300 billion, though they said the United States would not be directly funding it. The proposal keeps commercial traffic moving through the Strait of Hormuz during negotiations and would pause new U.S. sanctions and troop deployments over that period.
Officials said the agreement does not settle the main dispute over Iran's nuclear program. Instead, it leaves the status of enriched uranium and future enrichment limits for later negotiations, with monitoring and enforcement still expected to be central issues. A formal signing ceremony is planned for Friday, with final talks set to begin afterward.
