Mamdani says Democrats have lost focus on working people

Zohran Mamdani on Democrats and working people in New York City politics See why he says rent, housing, gas, and groceries must drive the party's focus

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the Democratic Party has moved away from the concerns of working people. In a June 1 interview with MS NOW's Eugene Daniels, Mamdani said voters want clear answers on everyday costs such as rent, housing, gas and groceries. He said the party should do more to address those issues. Mamdani, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, said he hopes Democrats can return to the kind of workerfocused politics he associates with the New Deal and the party's past.
